Hi Dear Tesla owners,
I am Dan. It's been almost 2 years since we came up with the idea of designing a Model Y refrigerator. So excited to see the product is going to meet US customers this late December. Check the introduction videos. Yes, the guy in the second video is me. The small team can't afford to hire actors twice.
Hopefully you will like it. If not, I will try to figure out and make the next product better:)
If you want to know more behind the product:
The most difficult part was to design a lifting and fixing structure. While general car refrigerators use rope buckles, we wanted to use a more simple and easy-to-use jack design. During the design process, we found that Tesla's tolerances are very large, and Tesla's made in the U.S. and China can sometimes differ by 1cm. We compensated for the tolerances by increasing the height of the jack lift, which required us to design a more compact structure, as the body still had to be stuffed with the compressor and condenser.
The second difficulty was the design of the latch for opening the door. We wanted to achieve either sitting in the front or the back, a gentle press to open and close the door. If the snap was too loose, the drink would slam back and forth into the refrigerator door when the Tesla accelerated, causing it to open by mistake. If the clasp was too tight, the door would need to be pressed very hard. Thanks to our excellent structural design colleagues Yongdi and Changquan, they completely exceeded our expectations.
This is a preorder link. The fridge will be available by early Feb.
If you order now, you get to enjoy the special early bird price which is $299. Appreciate your support and cooperation!
